My brother was dive coordinator and was talking me through how the boat was looking using the OTS underwater radio.  This worked really well and I could communicate perfectly.  I was suspicious that with the transducer on one side, I may lose comms if the boat spun around, but it seemed to make no difference.  I could talk whichever way I was pointing.  I could also talk to the safety divers who were using the same chanel on their UW sets.
