Fitted the underwater radio to the brackets I had made ages ago. The arial\antenna\transducer (not sure what you call it) needs to pass through the hull via the sub conn bulkhead connector. The cable has 3 pins on the plug where it connects to the instrument, so I was expecting there to be 3 seperate wires inside. When I cut it, I found its actually a coaxial cable. I didn’t expect this although I suppose I should have made a bit more effort to find out. Anyway, I have wired it together through the connector with the shielding and inner cable connected to the through hull, but I don’t hold out much hope for it working. I did wire my TV arial up like this years ago and it was fine, so you never know, but I am almost sure this will need to be re-done. I shortened the cable so there was a bit left to show the method of splitting the 2 wires. Black wire bottom of picture. I will rig up the other end and then test it in a bucket with the reciever. |
